Textures (knock down & skip trowel)
The WallPaper Doctor provides Textures (knock down & skip trowel)!
Textured walls have had an appeal for many decades. Styles from the attractive knock-down lace to the unpopular and gag reflex inducing popcorn ceiling texture have gained and waned in popularity for some time now. Unfortunately, many homes with textured drywall dating prior to 1978 can contain asbestos and other carcinogenic properties that can cause cancer and other serious side effects.
The problem with any textured walls or ceiling made prior to 1978 is that the joint compound often used contained trace amounts of silica and asbestos. When released into the air as fine particulates, they enter the blood stream through the lungs where they reside in tissues, reeking havoc on unsuspecting cells. Always have a professional asbestos removal service test your drywall texture if you’re unsure.
Removing texture from ceiling and walls is a basic process, albeit a messy one. Prep the entire work area with drop cloths, plastic and plenty of ventilation. If there is anything within 50 feet of the work area you can’t get dust on, move it or cover it. Ventilation and respiration are a must have before beginning any drywall texture removal project. The WallPaper Doctor is prepared to give you the best results of Textures (knock down and skip trowel)
